Sol Sisters awarded Retailer of the year.

We are very excited to announce that Sol Sisters Artisan Collective has been awarded Retailer of the year at the "Rotarian Community and Business Awards" for Ulladulla and surrounds, 2016. As the Sisterhood Australia is one of the Sisters in this awesome shop and were we exclusively stock our "First Period Pack" we would like to share this great news with you all.

With many entries we proceeded to be one of three finalists and we waited in anticipation as the results where read out to the full-house event. There were jumps of joy as Sol Sisters took out the award.

Being a huge recognition for our shop, this is our opening description that we presented to the judging panel.

We are “Sol Sisters Artisan Collective” and we consist of 5 energetic local women who have collaborated together to be able to open and maintain a vibrant and unique shop. The idea for the work space came after a windy day at the Milton Markets where we all had stalls. We all thought wouldn't be great to have a permanent place to showcase our wares and not rely on market days and the weather. After a lot of thought and planning we were able to secure a shop that met our budget. So, we are relatively young when it comes to shop front retail in Ulladulla. We will be announcing our first anniversary on the 1st of October 2016.

We stand out because most of our stock in Sol Sisters is handmade and designed by ourselves or has been sourced ethically by Fair Trade, thus being able to support women, families and communities in less fortunate circumstances. We are able to share our costs and a rotating roster. Our shop is only small but we are packed to the rafters and we are described as 'bright and beautiful.

Our shop also provides support to local community groups and events. Besides being there to support each other we are proud to be involved with our local community. Even though we are a small business we have been able to be generous to local fundraisers and charities by donating products to go towards their raffles. Also we proudly volunteer as a Collection point for “Share the Dignity” who are a not-for-profit national group dedicated to helping homeless and women in crisis. So far we have collected over 250 handbags that are stocked with personal necessities for women and over 400 packets of sanitary item. We are 'Women helping Women'.

We love providing this drop off service to the community as we personally thank each person for their generosity for their donation which also gives them a feeling of gratitude. We will continue to do this drive in the future.

So great celebrations are going on at Sol Sisters and The Sisterhood Australia. Stay tuned for more updates and please follow us on Social Media for Birthday specials in store.
