Description
Desta meaning Pleasure.
Each one of our African Market Baskets, from Bolgatanga in Northern Ghana, is unique in colour and design. This particular basket features navy, green, maroon and natural coloured fibres with a brown leather hand grip. It stands 21cm not including the handle and 26cm across.
With so many uses these are a great vessel for everyday use and home decor. Take them shopping, the beach or for crafts. Makes for a very ethical gift that just keeps on giving.
The baskets are woven from elephant grass, which grows abundantly in the region of sub-Saharan Africa. The tough nature of the elephant grass, together with the skillful weaving technique of the artisans, passed from generation to generation, makes these individually woven baskets strong, durable and flexible.
By purchasing one of these baskets you are helping to empower these talented artisans and contribute to sustainable development, preserving traditional skills and promoting ethically produced goods and work practices.
